"The Duke & I" By Julia Quinn

A long time ago, one our beloved Free Spirits walked into an itsy bitsy corner bookshop in the city searching for something new to read. The owner of the shop who was behind the counter leant to the side of her Apple Mac and peered through her glasses.
“What exactly are you looking for?” she said
“Ohhh I don’t know…..I’m looking for a new series to sink my teeth into, juicy bits, romantic bits – a bit like Pride and Prejudice where its naughty to flash some ankle, but not too soppy that you want to throw up”
“I have the perfect collection for you but you have to promise me that you won’t sue me for your new addiction”
“Done” said the Free Spirit. She paid at the counter and rode home on the bus with her new book in her handbag anxious to read in bed with a hot tea and biscuit. Little did she know that she would become so engrossed that she would be back at the bookshop in the days following to buy whatever books in the series she could get her hands on - busting to discover who the Lady Whistledown was?

“The Duke & I” is the first in the Bridgerton Series and follows Daphne, the fourth out of eight siblings in her family. Written by Julia Quinn, it is a period romance collection that follows the lives of each Bridgerton sibling in the family as they all fall in love. As they all come into the high society limelight Anthony, Benedict, Colin. Daphne, Eloise etc. etc. all fall in love as each book unfolds whilst navigating the world of the gossipy London ton, and as challenging as that can be for the rich and snooty, keeping it private from the mysterious Lady Whistledown seems even harder as they read gossip about themselves in her weekly newsletter!!

Some big names are in this Netflix release with the voice of Lady Whistledown by Dame Julie Andrews.

The Zoom meeting on the 28/06/2020 is to share our thoughts on the book and speculate on how they will deliver it on Netflix! So please make sure you have finished reading the book by this date.
