This studio is named in memory of Betsy Watkins - a much loved member of Free Spirit Gypsy Tribal and Tribalive! - who passed away in March 2009. Betsy once joked that if we ever held a "Tribal Fest in the West", it should be held in the "Betsy Watkins Memorial Hall". So we named our special Studio dance space in Fremantle in loving memory of our "Miss Betsy". South Fremantle High School has since closed its doors, so we are working on finding a new "Betsy Watkins" Studio!
Betsy was also a talented artist - the drawing of the tribal dancer featured on this website is one of Betsy's creations, and the Studio itself is decorated with several of her artworks.
